It started in year 2000, where my
mom was working as employee in one of Japanese Manufacture company in jakarta.
One day on that year, one of the top management's wife, Mrs. Fujita, called and
asked my mom to find a souvenir for her friends in Tokyo - Japan. In a
couple days my mom able to find a souvenir, called KINCHAKU and she is confidence that it is the right souvenir for Mrs. Fujita's friend. My mom showed the
sample to Mrs.Fujita but unfortunately the finishing is so poor and did not meet to Mrs.Fujita requirement, so Mrs.Fujita suggested my mom to make KINCHAKU by herself.
Note :
KINCHAKU is a traditional Japanese purse or handbag. It is a
small bag, typically with drawstring. Purpose of such bag is for carrying
personnel things, such as money, medicine, cosmetic and etc.
With Mrs.Fujita support and guidance,
my mom manage to make KINCHAKU, with two different
fabrics; inside use plain cotton and outside using batik, therefor it
can be used reversible (see photo below).
My mom has fallen in love with batik since her younger age, but after succeed with her first KINCHAKU, my mom starting to learn more detail on batik. My mom prefer to use printed batik made by cotton fabric instead of Batik Tulis nor Batik Cap because these two type of batik do not have a small pattern and limited of color. After KINCHAKU my mom try to make other everyday items that made
by Batik. Thats a short story how Kirey boutique born. Customer satisfaction is
